Sydney never got a speeding ticket, a fact that should be surprising to anyone who knew how she drove. The thing was, she knew most of the local policemen from all those years of being a general reporter. With the younger ones, the ones who hadn't started working by the time she'd retired, she would just say something like, "Oh, you must have gone to school with my son Tommy," (or daughter Joanie, or...).
